MLS Teams not Playing in Lamar Hunt US Open Cup

So, the MLS announced that MLS NEXT pro clubs will represent the league at the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup in 2024.

According to the article above it looks to be a schedule related issue as well as a push for meaningful competition. I feel like this move sort of goes against the spirit of the Open Cup. It should be an opportunity to have teams play against each other regardless of level. It’s a possible once in a lifetime chance for some of the lower league players to get a shot to play with MLS talent. Of course, it also takes away opportunities for upsets over MLS teams. Its’s a bad call to move it for your minor league/academy teams.

2023 MLS SuperDraft

Today at 3PM EST is the MLS SuperDraft. Over 400 players are eligible to be drafted. If you want to view the draft, you will need MLS Season pass. They will also have a draft tracker to go along with the show.

Toronto FC will make the first selection in the draft. Will you be watching the draft?

We have the first round of the MLS Cup. The wildcard round. Sporting KC vs San Jose Earthquakes is the first match. While New York Red Bulls vs Charlotte will be the second one. I’m taking San Jose and New York to win.
