The Gators and Eagle fought hard last week with the Eagles taking two of three games and clinching a spot in the playoffs. Now we shift over to the American League for the final series of slate four. This is the St. Louis series with the Magic taking on the Cobras.

The Magic sit atop the division with a chance to clinch it and not just a playoff spot. If they sweep the Cobras, they get to 10 wins and can’t be passed in the standings. If they take two out of three and sit at nine wins it would take a Wildcats sweep of the Eagles and a Diamondbacks sweep of the Magic to have them tie at nine wins each. The Magic would then hold the tiebreaker over the Wildcats in head-to-head.

The defending AL champions Cobras are looking to keep their playoff hopes alive. They can get to nine wins with sweeps over the Magic and Predators. Though this series is probably more about setting up slate fives matchup with the Predators, who sit a half-game ahead of the Cobras for the third spot in the playoffs.

The division title is still in play, but a long shot. It would pretty much require the Cobras to go 6-0 to get to 9-6. Then get some help from the Eagles and Diamondbacks to make sure the Magic and Wildcats don’t reach nine wins. If both the Wildcats and Cobras have the same record the Wildcats win the tiebreaker.

Conversely if the Cobras are swept by the Magic, they would need to sweep the Predators to make the playoffs.

I’m picking the Magic 2-1.

Skenes Draws Record Crowd

S. Samek

Paul Skenes continues to make headlines. The pitcher made his Double A debut on Saturday night. He struggled during the outing. He pitched 2/3 of an inning struck out two and allowed four runs on three hits. Though the Curve did win the game 9-8 on a walk off and Skenes didn’t factor in the decision.

However, Skenes was successful in getting fans to come watch. 10,000 plus fans saw this debut an Altoona record for attendance. This was even more fans than Stephen Strasburg drew during his Double-A debut in Altoona in 2010. It also outdrew the 2013 Pittsburgh Pirates vs Altoona Curve Spring training game. So good that Skenes is continuing to trend upward.

NFL Title Belts

Turns out the WWE is partnering with the NFL to make title belts for each team. They are avalible to purchase for $550.

I think it’s a cool idea and a need crossover. I feel like it could be used in touchdown celebrations and during press conferences and such. I think it’s cool that the public can buy them. However, at that price I think I’ll pass.
