Basketball or Nothing Review

With the NBA season now in the books, if you’re looking to watch some basketball I may have an option. Netflix has a series called Basketball or Nothing that may catch your eye. I watched it th other day and I’ll be glad to share my thoughts on it.

So Basketball or Nothing takes place in Arizona at Chinle High School, which is based on a Native American Reservation. Under the leadership of coach Raul Mendoza they try and bring home a state championship.

The series focuses a bit more on the on the court action than the off the court happenings, which makes it pretty light to watch. It’s enjoyable to sit back and watch hoops with the main storyline as the state title hunt. Though they do it pretty fast in just six episodes that last about a half an hour each.

Though I feel like the series tried to cram a bit into so little episodes. Like similar series have more and longer episodes and stories can get a bit more attention and last a bit longer. This one it’s like oh where did they time go, escpially when you jump through from what seems like pretty early in the season to the playoffs in just a couple episodes. You just wonder if you missed something. The playoffs also take place in just a couple of episodes and it feels like they rushed them.

Overall it is a pretty solid show. Like it’s pretty compelling story and looks good visually. Though I just feel like I needed another episode or a bit more added to episodes to make them not seem like they were rushed. I also hated how the second epsiode ends with a shot going up that is going to decide a game and it ends with a cliff hanger when you don’t know if the shot fell. They might have thught it was clever, I thought it was kind of mean to be left hanging like that.

I would recomend it if your looking for a good basketball related series, or something that you can watch through pretty quickly. Check it out on Netflix.
