Utah NHL Team Unveils Name Choices

With the NHL moving Arizona to Utah, one of the things that people thought of was what would the new team be named. Well, they have reviled a list of eight possible names.

Mammoths, Yetis,Blizzard,Utah HC, Venom, Outlaws, Ice and Fury were the eight unveiled to begin.

Not very many great choices in my book. Utah HC really? must we go back to the horrible days of the Washington football team. No get an actual name please.

The Mammoths would be neat after a woolly mammoth, but it reminds me of the Colorado Mammoth lacrosse team. The Blizzard might be fun too but might be a bit too close to the Colorado Avalanche.

The rest seem a bit generic, Ice and Fury especially. They also don’t seem to really apply to the location of Utah. Like who thinks of cowboys and outlaws and mentions Utah? Thats more Texas. I just don’t feel like any of these team names are great fits. What does everyone else think?

NHL Coming to Utah

The move looks to be official now with Arizona out of the NHL and Utah in.

They don’t have a team name yet, just that the team should be in place for the 2024/2025 NHL season.

It should be an interesting move. Utah isn’t where I would consider for the first location to get a new NHL team. Though I’m interested to see how the move goes. Hopefully better than Arizona.
