The move looks to be official now with Arizona out of the NHL and Utah in.
They don’t have a team name yet, just that the team should be in place for the 2024/2025 NHL season.
It should be an interesting move. Utah isn’t where I would consider for the first location to get a new NHL team. Though I’m interested to see how the move goes. Hopefully better than Arizona.

The Okland Athletics look to have a new temporary home. For the 2025-2027 seasons they will play in Sacramento at the home of the River Cats, the Triple-A team for the San Francisco Giants. They will then move to Las Vegas in 2028. Though if the stadium in Vegas isn’t ready there is an option year for 2028 to stay in Sacramento.
This would make it the last season in Okland.
Though it’s interesting to note that prior to their time as a Giants affiliate the River Cats were the affiliate of the Athletics from 2000-2014. Not sure if that played into the negotiations, but it may have come up.
