The title was on the line yesterday at the 2024 PBA World Championship. After the first stepladder on Saturday the field was cut from nine finalists to five. Eric Jones won the first stepladder to advance to Sunday’s main event. How did he fare on trying to climb the ladder and win the title?

Turns out not so great. Jones faced EJ Tackett in the opening match of this stepladder. Tackett won the PBA Shark Championship the last event and was also the defending champion of this event. Tackett shot a 246 to Jones 2025 to eliminate him from the stepladder.

Tackett then battled the three seed Graham Fach. This match was a bit closer, but Tackett was able to collect another win by a 213-202 final.

This set up the semifinal match against Jesper Svensson. The scoring pace cooled off as both shot under 200. Though in another close match Tackett would come out on top 193-184.

Matt Russo would then face Tackett for the title. Both would be looking for their second title of the World Series of Bowling. However, Russo would be looking for his first career major title.

Tackett would go on to defeat Russo 225-194 to win the title. This marks back-to-back PBA World Championships for Tackett. It’s also his third overall World championship, and fifth career major title. He has now won 23 titles on the tour in his career.

The next event is the PBA Tournament of Champions this week. Can Tackett keep his winning streak going, or will a new winner emerge? Turn in for coverage this week.
