Cloud9 League of Legends Signs New Top Laner

S. Samek

Cloud9 League of Legends announced they have signed a new top lane player. Park “Thanatos” Seung-gyu has been signed from DK Challengers in Korea. He has spent the past four years in the Damwon/DK challengers/academy system.

Ibrahim “Fudge” Allami current top lane player for Cloud9 is allowed to look for opportunities with other teams but is still currently on the roster.

After making a change at head coach, it looks like Cloud9 is really committed to making changes and improving in the break between the spring and summer splits. Can it lead to improved playoff success and a trip to Worlds 2024? We shall see.

Reapered Returns to Cloud9

Cloud9 League of Legends will have a new coach in time for the Summer Split. This coach is one LCS fans should be familiar with. Bok “Reapered” Han-gyu is returning to Cloud9.

Reapered was the head coach from 2016-2020 before leaving. He spent time with 100 Thieves and Sengoku Gaming prior to rejoining Cloud9.

While with Cloud9 he led them to a top 3/4 finish at the 2018 World Championship. With a strong track record of getting them to Worlds. Though during his last stint in the LCS he helped lead 100 Thieves to the 2021 LCS Championship.

He will be replacing Alfonso “Mithy” Aguirre Rodríguez, who did win one LCS title during his time with the team.

Could this be what Cloud9 needs to shake things up and meet expectations of winning the LCS?

Team Liquid Bests FlyQuest in 2024 LCS Spring Finals

S. Samek

The 2024 LCS Spring finals were held this past weekend. Three teams were still in the running and that number has been reduced to one and a champion has been crowned.

The weekend started with the loser’s bracket finals between Cloud9 and Team Liquid. Liquid made quick work of Cloud9 sweeping them 3-0 to win the losers bracket and advance to the championship.

There they would meet top seed and winner bracket winner FlyQuest, the same team that knocked them into the loser’s bracket.

Liquid would get their revenge winning the series three games to one. This gives them their first title 2019 summer playoffs, not counting their LCS Lock-In titles in 2021 and 2022.

Team Liquid will make it to the MSI bracket stage as a result of their title. FlyQuest also will receive a spot at MSI, but in the play-in.

The remaining teams will need to wait until the start of the summer split.

2024 LCS Spring Finals

It’s the last weekend of the LCS Spring playoffs for 2024.

FlyQuest won the winners bracket by beating Cloud9 last weekend. They advance to the finals, as well as earn a spot at MSI 2024.

Cloud9 will play Team Liquid in the final loser’s bracket match. Winner gets to take a another shot at beating FlyQuest to earn an LCS title. The winner of this match will also get a spot at MSI.

Though the winners of the finals will be seeded into the event directly, while the second-place team will have to enter the play-ins for MSI.

Can FlyQuest finish the job and capture their first ever LCS title this weekend? Perhaps Cloud9, or Team Liquid will add another title to their collection?
