Team Liquid Bests FlyQuest in 2024 LCS Spring Finals

S. Samek

The 2024 LCS Spring finals were held this past weekend. Three teams were still in the running and that number has been reduced to one and a champion has been crowned.

The weekend started with the loser’s bracket finals between Cloud9 and Team Liquid. Liquid made quick work of Cloud9 sweeping them 3-0 to win the losers bracket and advance to the championship.

There they would meet top seed and winner bracket winner FlyQuest, the same team that knocked them into the loser’s bracket.

Liquid would get their revenge winning the series three games to one. This gives them their first title 2019 summer playoffs, not counting their LCS Lock-In titles in 2021 and 2022.

Team Liquid will make it to the MSI bracket stage as a result of their title. FlyQuest also will receive a spot at MSI, but in the play-in.

The remaining teams will need to wait until the start of the summer split.

2024 LCS Spring Finals

It’s the last weekend of the LCS Spring playoffs for 2024.

FlyQuest won the winners bracket by beating Cloud9 last weekend. They advance to the finals, as well as earn a spot at MSI 2024.

Cloud9 will play Team Liquid in the final loser’s bracket match. Winner gets to take a another shot at beating FlyQuest to earn an LCS title. The winner of this match will also get a spot at MSI.

Though the winners of the finals will be seeded into the event directly, while the second-place team will have to enter the play-ins for MSI.

Can FlyQuest finish the job and capture their first ever LCS title this weekend? Perhaps Cloud9, or Team Liquid will add another title to their collection?

2019 NALCS Week Five Recap

S. Samek

Five weeks down, and the quest for the playoffs is moving forward. Lets see how the start of the second half went for each team.

Cloud 9, Team Liquid and CLG sit atop the league standings at 7-3.

Cloud 9 went 2-0 with victories over Liquid and Clutch. This was even with Kumo, the sub top laner in for Licorice. They looked very convincing in both of these wins. I would sit them number one in my power rankings after five weeks.

CLG and Liquid I would have alternate the two and three ranking. While Liquid did lose to Cloud 9, which isn’t a bad loss. Just they took way too long to put down 100 Thieves. it took them 43 minutes to collect the victory. Not really a good sighn to not be able to dominate a team like in the past.

CLG had a similar story. The beat a good TSM, team while struggling to put away Clutch. I still feel like this team is for real, but needs just a bit of luck to contend for the split title.

Optic and TSM sit at 6-4. Both went 1-1 during week five action. TSM took care of 100 Thieves and fell to CLG, for the first time in 1,176 days. This isn’t entirely a bad thing, but I don’t think TSM is as close to the top three ranking as they were in the spring. Just kind of a suprising loss.but not a deal breaker for missing playoffs.

Optic beat Golden Guardians and lost to Flyquest. The loss to Flyquest was a 44 minute match, which might say that Flyquest isn’t as bad as their place in the standing. Optic pummeled Golden Guardians, which is probably a coinflip between the two as to who wins.

Speaking of Golden Guardians , they sit at 5-5. They lost to Optic and beat Echo Fox. This week was kind of a oh, nothing happened to really hurt our standings, but we didn’t really move up kind of week.

At 4-6 we have Clutch Gaming. They went 0-2 this week as expected against C9 and CLG.

100 Thieves and Flyquest are both 3-7. 100 Thieves went 0-2, while Flyquest went 2-0. Both teams are works in progress that can look good or really bad. These two are maybe long shots to make the playoffs, but being only two games out of the last spot the season isn’t over, yet.

Echo Fox sits last at 2-8 after a winless week. This team just looks out of it, but may just keep experimenting to try and find something. They sent Rush packing for MikeYeung to change things up this week. This isn’t really an improvement. In fact first game back on stage he went 0/4. Its just a mess of a roster and they are pretty close to having their playoff chances reach zero.

Should be an exciting second half of the year. Stay tuned.
