Holliday Sent Back to Triple-A

S. Samek

The Baltimore Orioles have option top prospect Jackson Holliday back to Triple-A Norfolk.

His first stint in the majors lasted 16 days and saw him go 2/34 in 10 games for an .059 average. He did record his first major league hit during the April 14th, 2024, game against the Milwaukee Brewers.

It seems pretty fast to see him sent down, but it makes sense. There should still be plenty of time to turn the slump around and get him readjusted for a second shot at making it to the show.

Holliday Debut

S. Samek

Jackson Holliday wasted little time after his call up getting in the lineup. He played his first game with Baltimore last night against Boston. He hit in the ninth spot and played second base.

The Orioles would win the game 7-5. Holliday went 0-4 with two strikeouts though he did record an RBI. He also showed off his glove starting a 4-6-3 double play in the second inning.

While not the best debut it is at least something to work on moving forward and I can’t wait to see him continue to play the majors.

Holliday in Baltimore

S. Samek

Baltimore Orioles fans have a reason to celebrate today. Jackson Holliday, the number one prospect in all of baseball is getting the call to the majors.

Holliday is hitting .333 with two home runs in 10 games with the Triple-A Norfolk Tides this season. He recently contributed a 4-6 game as a part of a 26 run outburst for the Tides, where they set franchise records. The Tides are 7-3 so far this year as they work to defend their Triple-A National Championship.

I’m not surprised he is already getting the call to the majors. Though I guess the question is how many other top prospects will be joining him soon?

Tides Trounce Knights behind Record Night

S. Samek

The Norfolk Tides had a record-breaking night on Wednesday. They won 26-11 over the Charlotte Knights while breaking a few of franchise marks.

They hit eight home runs in the contest, including three by Kyle Stowers. They had 29 hits overall, also a record. Stowers also contributed seven RBIS. He also broke the mark with 44 home runs for Norfolk.

Heston Kjerstad drove in a franchise record 10 runs. Jackson Holliday went 4-6 while scoring five runs. Coby Mayo had a five hit game and was just a home run away from finishing the cycle. Seven players reached base at least four times in the win. This is the box score for this record-breaking game.

With a team this loaded in top prospects is it any surprise to see this type of score? I don’t think so. I can’t wait to see more of it, well until they get called up the show. If they don’t it’s going to be tough to stop this team from repeating as International League champions.

Chourio Makes Brewers Roster

Another top prospect is headed to the show by making the opening day roster. Jackson Chourio of the Milwaukee Brewers has made the roster.

Chourio is the number two overall prospect in baseball and the number one prospect in the Brewers system. He was the player of the year in the system in 2023 where he split time between double-a and triple-a.

He is the highest rated overall prospect to earn a spot on an opening day roster. after number one rated prospect Jackson Holliday was reassigned to the minors, as was number three overall prospect Paul Skenes.

Holliday Reassigned to Minors

S. Samek

Jackson Holliday the number one prospect in all of baseball, will not be making the Baltimore Orioles opening day roster. He was reassigned to minor league camp on Friday.

Holliday had a strong spring hitting .311 with two home runs and six RBI. However, it was quite enough to get a spot on the opening day roster.

I’d imagine he will be sent to Triple-A Norfolk, where he spent just 18 games last season with the Tides.

Pirates Prospects Prevail Over Orioles at Spring Breakout

S.Samek

The MLB Spring break out event choose quite the opening act. The Pittsburgh Pirates prospects led by Paul Skenes against the Baltimore Orioles prospects led by Jackson Holliday.

This is the second time the two top prospects clashed as they both faced each other in a spring training game back in February. During that contest Skenes retired Holliday as part of a scoreless inning of work.

Now backed by a whole roster of his fellow top prospects could Skenes’s defeat Holliday again?

Well, he can, and we did. Skenes threw serious heat, hitting over 100 MPH constantly as he shut down the Orioles top farmhands. He threw a scoreless inning striking out two including Holliday on six pitches.

Braxton Ashcraft was the winning pitcher for the Pirates prospects. Termarr Johnson had a 1-3 day. Jack Brannigan and Mitch Jebb each had an RBI. Bubba Chandler recorded a save. Hunter Barco threw two scoreless innings in relief, while Patrick Reilly and Khristian Curtis each threw a scoreless frame in the win.

Overall, a very successful Spring Breakout game for the Pirates prospects and good look at the future of Pirates baseball.

Skenes To Make First Spring Start

S. Samek

Paul Skenes is the scheduled starter for the Pittsburgh Pirates in this afternoon’s game against Baltimore. The top prospect and draft pick is making his first ever spring start in his first spring training.

It won’t be easy as he has the task of facing the number one prospect in all of baseball Jackson Holliday. Could this be a future World Series matchup?

Will Skenes, or Jackson get the better of each other. Listen to this afteernoons ganme to find out.
