Things for the Altoona Curve haven’t been getting much better. After a tough loss that tied the franchise record with 11 losses in a row, they had three chances to end the streak.

With no such luck. They fell in both games in a double header on May,2,2024 before dropping a game 2-0 yesterday.

Though the Curve threated in the ninth inning, putting runners at the corners with no one out and having the bases loaded with one out. However, a flyout that should have resulted in a run scoring on a sacrifice fly ended up being a double play as the runner was thrown out at the plate. It ended the game in a 2-0 win for Harrisburg.

The loss continues the now franchise record 14 games of futility. They try again to best in-state rival Harrisburg tonight at 6PM.

The Altoon Curve looked to avoid losing a franchise record 11 games in a row this afternoon. For a while it even looked like they would cruise to victory.

A four-run seventh inning pulled them ahead 4-1. During the inning Brenden Dixion hit a game-tying home run, while Wyatt Hendrie plated a pair with a double and Joe Perez added a sacrifice fly to give the Curve a three-run cushion.

However, in the bottom of the seventh they would give back two runs. Then in the eighth Harrisburg would tie it at 4-4 after a pair of walks.

Then in the bottom of the ninth Brady House took Isaac Mattson deep to send the home crowd away happy and give the Senators a 5-4 win.

Altoona looks to stop the streak Tomorrow during a doubleheader against the Senators.

Curve Look to Avoid 11 in a Row

The Altoona Curve, Double-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates are on a slide. They lost last night against the Harrisburg Senators 3-2. That loss marked their 10th straight defeat. The last time they lost 10 games in a row was May 24-June 3, 2014.

The franchise record losing streak for the Curve is 11 in a row. They accomplished that during the 2000 season. Will they be able to avoid tying the franchise record with a win today? First pitch is set for noon.

MacKinnon Continues to crush it at Home

The Colorado Avalanche won 6-2 over the Washington Capitals on Wednesday. Nathan MacKinnon scored four goals to lead the way. In doing so he extend his home point streak to 24 games, which is the most in Avalanche history.

Additionally, MacKinnon is on a 12-game point streak overall. Nice time to get hot with the all-star game approaching. Numbers like this should get you into the game. If nothing else, it’s helping Colorado to a second-place spot in the Western division currently. How far will the streak go?

Pelicans Soar Above Franchise Mark

The New Orleans Pelicans were shooting the lights out on Tuesday Night. They made 57 percent of their shots from the field while shooting 23 of 46 from three points in a 153-125 win over the Utah Jazz. The 153 points is a franchise record for the Pelicans.

CJ McCollum posted 33 points in the win, while Zion Williamson had 17 points and 11 assists in the win. The 11 helps are actually a career high for Williamson.

The Pelicans are currently fifth in the Western Conference as we approach the All-Star break. Could they be getting hot in time for the second half? Will we see more performences like this down the streach?

Oliers Get 13, Set Record

The Edmonton Oilers took down the Calgary Flames on Saturday night to extend the winning streak to 13 in a row. The win not only extended the franchise record but set the mark for the most wins in a row by a Canadian team in the NHL era.

Their next challenge is tonight at home against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Do they win and make it 14 in a row?

The Edmonton Oilers successfully extend their winning streak to 12 games with a win over the Seattle Kraken. Now they look to extend their franchise best winning streak to 13 games against Calgary. if they can do so they will tie five other teams with winning streaks that long in NHL history. Could this be a run at an NHL record? 17 games is the mark to beat.

The Seattle Kraken are on fire right now. They have won nine games in a row, which is a franchise record. They also have a point streak of 13 games in a row. Well, they play the Pittsburgh Penguins this afternoon. Will they be able to take the streak to 10 wins and 14 games with a point?

Crosby Chasing 12th Place

Sidney Crosby is looking to continue his ascent up the NHL scoring leaders list. He sits three points outside of 12th place and tying Joe Thornton. He also is a mere point away from tying Jaromir Jagr for the most points scored against the Ottawa Senators in Penguins franchise history with 57. Will he break any of the milestones tonight?
