Curve Reach 14 In A Row

S. Samek

Things for the Altoona Curve haven’t been getting much better. After a tough loss that tied the franchise record with 11 losses in a row, they had three chances to end the streak.

With no such luck. They fell in both games in a double header on May,2,2024 before dropping a game 2-0 yesterday.

Though the Curve threated in the ninth inning, putting runners at the corners with no one out and having the bases loaded with one out. However, a flyout that should have resulted in a run scoring on a sacrifice fly ended up being a double play as the runner was thrown out at the plate. It ended the game in a 2-0 win for Harrisburg.

The loss continues the now franchise record 14 games of futility. They try again to best in-state rival Harrisburg tonight at 6PM.

Curve Match franchise record After Late Loss

S. Samek

The Altoon Curve looked to avoid losing a franchise record 11 games in a row this afternoon. For a while it even looked like they would cruise to victory.

A four-run seventh inning pulled them ahead 4-1. During the inning Brenden Dixion hit a game-tying home run, while Wyatt Hendrie plated a pair with a double and Joe Perez added a sacrifice fly to give the Curve a three-run cushion.

However, in the bottom of the seventh they would give back two runs. Then in the eighth Harrisburg would tie it at 4-4 after a pair of walks.

Then in the bottom of the ninth Brady House took Isaac Mattson deep to send the home crowd away happy and give the Senators a 5-4 win.

Altoona looks to stop the streak Tomorrow during a doubleheader against the Senators.

Curve Look to Avoid 11 in a Row

The Altoona Curve, Double-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates are on a slide. They lost last night against the Harrisburg Senators 3-2. That loss marked their 10th straight defeat. The last time they lost 10 games in a row was May 24-June 3, 2014.

The franchise record losing streak for the Curve is 11 in a row. They accomplished that during the 2000 season. Will they be able to avoid tying the franchise record with a win today? First pitch is set for noon.

Bananas Still Winless in 2024

S. Samek

Not even the mighty power of WWE superstar John Cena was enough to propel the Bananas to victory last Saturday.

Even after a rally in the ninth inning that saw them cut the lead to 7-5 and have a pair of runners on base, a flyout ended the comeback attempt unsuccessfully.

The win finished off a three-game sweep in Tampa, as the Party Animals have now won 12 games in a row dating back to last year’s tour.

The Tour now shifts to Peoria, Arizona for a three games series, Thursday- Saturday February 15-17, 2024.

Can the Bananas win their first game of 2024? Will the losing streak finally end, or will the party keep rolling? I’m predicting the Bananas take at least one game and end the streak this series.

Pistons Streak Ends

S. Samek

The Detroit Pisons should have a happy new year. They finally got a streak ending win in the final game of 2023 calendar year. They bested the Toronto Raptors 129-127 to pick up just their third win of the season. While they do sit at 3-29 at least the streak only got to 28 games lost in a row.

Prior to last night’s victory they hadn’t won sense October 28th when they beat the Bulls. That win actually had them 2-1 on the season, which is the only time they have had an above .500 record this season.

21 different teams added to the streak. They also did keep a few of those games close losing by less than double digits in 14 games during the streak.

So, wow the record setting streak was fun to watch, it should be interesting to see if they can start a new streak, a winning streak to start off 2024!

Pistons Go for 29

S. Samek

Well, it’s in the books 28 losses in a row for the Detroit Pistons. The 76ers record as been tied for all-time losses in a row. This one hurt. They had a solid lead at the half and blew it. Granted it took a favored Celtics team overtime to get the win, but they still took care of business. I can’t help but think this one sting as it was close, but not enough.

Now the Pistons have to host the Toronto Raptors with 29 losses in a row on the line. With the Raptors coming in at 12-18 is this a possible win? Could Detroit win their last game of 2023, or will they have to break the streak in the new year?

Pistons Go for 28

S. Samek

Tonight, the Detroit Pistons look to tie the all-time record for losing games in a row with 28. Though they do own the single season losing streak record. It’s up to the Boston Celtics to hand them the record-breaking loss. Do they match the 76ers streak?

Pistons Go For 26

S. Samek

It keeps on getting longer as the Pistons keep losing. Though they will reach a milestone if they can get to 26 in a row. That would tie them with the Philadelphia 76ers from 2014 for the single-season loss record. It would also tie the mark from the 2010/2011 Cleveland Cavaliers. Do they ended it ,or keep going? They have the Nets tonight on the slate.
