2024 NHL Trade deadline Recap

S. Samek

Well, the NHL Trade deadline is done. Let’s see what went down during it.

Looks like a pretty busy final day of trades. I would say that Boston, Florida, Carolina and Philadelphia look like buyers. While the Penguins were definitely sellers.

Which it makes sense for both Florida and Boston to make trades, just a point separates them from the top seed in the Eastern Conference.

Vancouver the top seed in the Western Conference yet seemed to not make any trades. The Colorado Avalanche seemed to have a big deadline, as they try to catch up to the Dallas Stars, who they are just two points behind in the division standings. They are tied with Winnipeg though; however, the Jets had a pretty quiet deadline.

Will the moves be enough to shake up the playoff race? I guess we will have to wait and see.

NBA Trade Deadline Moves 2/8/24.

The NBA trade deadline finished up not too long ago. It didn’t seem too active, nor it did really have any big names being traded.

The Lakers didn’t make any moves. The Hawks didn’t sell off any pieces. Teams that were both rumored to be ready to make a deal stood pat. It mostly seemed like it was some depth trades, or even picks. Though the 76ers getting Buddy Hield seems to be the biggest move made.

Seems like more Eastern Conference teams were making moves as well. Will that shake up the standings come second half of the season?

Pistons and Knicks Making Trade 2/8/24

The Knicks are making a trade with the Pistons to acquire Alec Burks and
Bojan Bogdanovic in exchange for Evan Fournier, Malachi Flynn, Quentin Grimes, Ryan Arcidiacono and Two future second-round picks.

Looks like Detroit should have a nice haul to use for the rebuild. New York looks to be making a push this year as they are currently tied for third in the Eastern Conference. Though it looks like they are moving on from Flynn, who the acquired in the deal from the Raptors back in December.

Pascal Siakam of the Toronto Raptors is one name that has been floating around the trade block. Yesterday he was actually traded to Indiana. The Pelican were also in on the trade that nets the Raptors Bruce Brown, Kira Lewis,
Jordan Nwora, Two 2024 first-round picks and Conditional 2026 first-round pick. Indiana also got a future second round pick. Who won the trade?
